    Ryteikkö - Thicket

    Art Space Mari · Espoo

Curated by artist Rauha Hartt the exhibition titled "Ryteikkö" brings together three generations of artists who in their works in the exhibition explore the notion of the theme. "Ryteikkö" means a thicket, copse or a tangly bit of the woods where accessibility is little or none. Thoroughly familiar for anyone who's ever walked in an even semi wild Finnish woods. Ryteikkö can be seen as a physical place but also something like a mental block. How'd you navigate this? The exhibition features the following artists: Tuuli Autio, Heikki Pasanen, Amado Peña and Victoria Torboli. Art Space Mari, Espoo 25.9.-8.11.2026 Opening 25.9. at 18.00–20.00 Thu–Fri 12.00–16.00 Sat–Sun 14.00–18.00 Free entry

Rasvan Constantinescu: "Echoes Within: A Soul's Unveiling" (art exhibition)

    Entresse Library · Espoo

"Welcome to Echoes Within: A Soul's Unveiling. I’m Rasvan, and my work has always been an invitation to look closer at what we see — and what we believe. This new body of work turns the lens entirely inward. It marks a deliberate shift from observing the world to peeling back the layers of the human spirit — exploring the quiet corners, hidden dualities, and emotional resonances that linger beneath the surface. This exhibition dives into the vibrant tension between the personas we project and the deep, unseen truths we carry within. I have tried to capture the beauty of confronting our own complexities, the vivid colours of consciousness and the voice of our hidden feelings. Surrounding these explorations of identity are landscapes of memory, nature, and emotional resonance. This internal dialogue of identity — marked by resilience and delicate grace — invites you to stop, listen closely to your own internal echoes, and discover what unveils when the noise of the world fades away." The exhibition can be visited during the library opening hours. Welcome!

Nina Saarinen's photo exhibition: Herkkänä selvinneet"

    Lippulaiva library · Espoo

I am a self-taught photographer from Helsinki, Finland, and my primary focus is nature photography. What I enjoy most about macro photography is the way it compels us to slow down and notice things that are otherwise easily overlooked in everyday life. Through close-up photography, the ordinary is transformed into something extraordinary for those who take the time to look closely enough. In my series 'Herkkänä selvinneet', I have focused on photographing subjects that are commonly perceived as delicate. Sensitivity is often associated with fragility, with something easily broken. Through my images, I wanted to highlight how things that appear vulnerable can in fact endure remarkably harsh and changing conditions. Delicate leaves and conifer needles support burdens heavier than themselves, frost encloses a tender flower in its icy armor, and yet these fragile beings survive from one season to the next. Perhaps sensitivity is not fragility after all, but a quiet strength that withstands the fiercest storms and deepest frosts, and still finds the courage, time and again, to reach for the light.

    Goldsmith of the Year 2026

Finnish Museum of Horology and Jewellery Kruunu · Espoo

Mauri Haapamäki, founder of Aspenhill Design Oy, represents the rare and rapidly disappearing silversmithing tradition in Finland. Silversmithing, one of the related professions within the goldsmithing industry, involves the traditional handcrafted production of large silver objects using techniques such as spinning, hammering and raising. With this year’s selection, the Finnish Goldsmiths’ Association wishes to highlight the demanding and significant craftsmanship of silversmithing, a profession that is increasingly under threat within the goldsmithing industry. It is a craft that requires an exceptional level of skill and expertise – knowledge that can only be acquired through years of experience and practice. The retrospective exhibition of Howard Smith (1928–2021) presents the versatile career of a well-loved and distinctive artist. The exhibition pays tribute to his open-minded visual expression and his influence on the Finnish art and design scene. Originally from New Jersey, Smith became known for his curious approach to art. His extensive career resembled a continuous journey of exploration into the possibilities of different materials, forms and techniques. Smith worked across a wide range of media, including ceramics, textile art, sculpture, papercut, collage and drawing. In addition, his designs extended into urban spaces through numerous public artworks. Alongside his art, Smith designed fabrics for Vallila and ceramics for Arabia. His much-loved design classics have found their way into many Finnish homes and everyday life. The long-awaited solo exhibition of Howard Smith is part of EMMA’s series highlighting both the classics of modernism and its reformers. It celebrates an artist whose contribution to Finnish art and design has been significant, while also emphasising the importance of multiculturalism as part of Finland’s art history. Traces of Craft - Museo Kruunu's Collections

Finnish Museum of Horology and Jewellery Kruunu · Espoo

Come and explore the museum’s collections in the long-awaited exhibition Traces of Craft. The collections of Museo Kruunu originated with the establishment of the Finnish School of Watchmaking in 1944 and the teaching collection it assembled through donations of various clocks, watches, and watchmaking tools. In 2015, a project was launched to expand the museum concept to include not only horology and the watchmaking tradition, but also jewellery and goldsmithing. The collections also include an extensive archive, library, and photograph collection. The exhibition Traces of Craft presents the museum’s collections in a broad scope, featuring both long-time favourites and more recent donations. An open meditation group

    Lippulaiva library · Espoo

Welcome to an open, non-sectarian meditation group that brings meditation into the daily life of Espoo residents. We meet on Sunday mornings from 10 to 11 AM in whichever space the library designates at the time – usually in the group room Kajuutta or the larger stage area next to it. The purpose is simply to sit together in silence for 45 minutes. This is not a therapy group, nor a discussion or teaching session. After the session there is time to catch up. We begin right after the library opens. The floor is carpeted wall-to-wall. The style is free. The library provides chairs and some cushions, and you are welcome to bring your own cushion as well. Meditation takes place as part of the library’s everyday life, so background sounds and occasional passers-by are part of the experience. #helloespoo
